Re: LDN for four Months - Results

Hi Val

Thanks for the welcome.

Trab <20 (Normal) but always is

TPO was 729 3months ago - now 860 Range <35

FT4 was 11.2 3months ago now FT4 11.3 Range 9.0-20, not much change

The weird thing is my TSH has increased even though my meds have increased

TSH 2 months ago 6.1 then 2 weeks ago was 11.8 even though meds increased from (Armour Powder) 90mg --->1105mg

I guess Im saying that the Sjogrens has rapidly got worse I mean from almost normal to full on severe dry eye and mouth/skin and also the fatigue...whilst taking LDN..

I got on LDN within a month of being told I need a few drops for my eyes, now I drop every 10 minutes even with plugs..and they still hurt.

Im not a great advert for LDN I realise...perhaps if they paid me :) only joking...!

As you know with multiple Autoimune conditions it's difficult to know what symptom is what disease..

However I would trade my Sjogrens for Hashimoto's anyday...I started off with Hashi...and apart from napping more I was pretty normal..then I developed Sjogrens symptoms....absolutely awful.

The worst is no effective treatment..Doctors look at you blankly..say silly things like breath thru your nose more and drink lots of water...hopeless and pretty useless advice.

I would like to say though that some people react differently to LDN so I would never tell someone not to try it..because that would be denying them some hope and something that might work for them..as we are all unique when it comes to the varying degrees of disease and mutations of.

Dreams,

I cant remember many though I do have some weird vivid dreams that would of at one time scared me but for some reason dont now on LDN...like wrestling crocs in teh laundry tub LOL ! I quite enjoy them actually.

All my best

Jon

Re: LDN for four Months - Results

Lolly

Hi

Sjogrens yes it is hard as you say to get a definite diagnosis..the difference between Thyroid related and Sjogrens Dryness could be the combo of Dry Mouth & Dry Eyes.

My Mouth started off Dry after a cold..and I thought it was that just hanging around at first..then Iwould awake with my tongue stuck to the roof of my mouth and my lips stuck to my gums and a sore upper mouth and throat..

If you feel your eyes are Dry some advice...get them checked asap at areputable Ophthal as damage can occur rapidly..my eyes were perfect and within 4 months I had noticable Corneal Erosion..due to the fact that I didnt think it was as bad as it was and that I didnt think I could have Sjogrens.

In the meantime please buy some drops for dry eyes to keep them in good shape...it dosent matter what is causing them to be dry if they are dry you need lubrication.

BTW My Doctor would not test me for Sjogrens so I asked him for a referall to the Opthal for my sore eyes..it was at the Ophthal that I got Diagnosed with Sjogrens..the Ophthal did the Schirmers Tear Production Test and found I was bone dry in both eyes.

The Schirmers test is simply blotting paper strips put in your bottom lids..and they time it to se how far moisture travels up along the strip.

Doctor had a hard time eating humble pie after that ! As Donald trump says Doc 'Your Fired !'

Avicel Filler is the filler Skip Lenz recommends..

Lolly I wish you all the best..hopefully you dont have Sjogrens symptoms..

Re: LDN for four Months - Results

Hi Jannz

Actually Im taking Selenium already..as part of the whole supplement regime.

To early to see if that helps...though nothing immediate.

Im concerned as to why i have to keep taking more Thyroid Meds...Hoping I can get it under control..then at least I can disentangle a little the rest of it.

I had wondered if the LDN is causing the issue with meds or..that my GPC is not allowing me to absorb the meds like I used to.

How are you going ..or have you started another thread about yourself ?

Cheers

Jon

Hi Jon,

I wouldn't give up hope on LDN just yet, it may take some people longer than others I doubt it has increased your AB's but your thyroid levels are low TSH high so that could be one reason also increased dry eyes do you have Thyroid eye disease as well? At least it will be supporting your immune system and that's one of the reason I started taking it, as I seem to be getting one AI disease after another.

I do lubricate my eyes with celluvisc I know how important it is to keep them moist. I'm going to see if my Ophtho will test  how dry they are and have taken a note of the test, He always comments about how dry they are, I even take flaxseed.

Since starting LDN I found they weren't as dry and instead of lubricating every 2 hours I found myself just lubricating about every 4 ,maybe I should continue with the 2 hourly just too keep on top, also the mouth. I see the dentist on Thursday so she will be able to say how dry it still is.

It sounds like you have so much going on all at once and like you said it's hard to pinpoint which one is causing the most problems.

So the filler is okay then skip recommends it, I make my own LDN from River pharmacy as I'm in the UK and trying to get a good doc to Rx well think that would be costly and also hard.

I'm taking all the info I have to my Ophtho next appointment.

I wish you all the best too.

Lolly

Re: LDN for four Months - Results

Jon,

This was the first thing that jumped out at me:

FT4 was 11.2  three months ago, now FT4 11.3 (9.0-20)

This is horribly low, Jon. I think your replacement hormone is way too low at 90 mcgs. I would be an emergency room candidate at those levels -- and that's not even a joke. No wonder you feel poorly and your LDN seems not to be working! Now, I realize it will take 6-8 weeks for the Armour increase to fully saturate, but I have no idea if a 90 to 115 mcg increase is going to pull you out of being hypothyroid or not. At least it's a 25 mcg increase, which you probably need. Also, whenever changing the dose of drugs, we often feel poorly, though I do tend to do better when my T hormone is increasing (rather than the opposite direction).

TSH 2 months ago 6.1 then 2 weeks ago was 11.8

Yikes! Too high! Yes, you have got to be feeling poorly just from being hypothyroid alone. A good TSH level is usually no greater than 2.0.

So, for me, LDN aside, I think this has to be a part of the problem. What are your thoughts? Maybe others will chime in on this as well.
